Location Requirements

Is a concrete pad required?

No. We can install on any surface - grass, sand, gravel, etc. That said, most of our partners provide a dedicated pad of some sort - concrete, stone dust, gravel, etc. - as this tends to look better than grass or sand installs.

Are utilities are required?

Rent.Fun units are solar-powered and do not require access to water or electricity.

Is wi-fi required?

No. Rent.Fun programs operate on cellular communication technology. As long as there is one bar of cell service, we're good.

How much space is required?

A 4-unit station is 10 ft by 3.5 ft. An 8-unit station is 10 ft by 7 ft. If you do decide to pour a concrete pad, we recommend a 15 ft by 8 ft to provide some buffer.

Who performs the installation?

Rent.Fun employs full time installers (aka “Launch Managers”) who drive around the country in a truck delivering and installing kayak rental stations. All inventory is stored in our warehouse in Wichita KS, where it is prepped and tested before getting loaded onto the truck. The installation itself is a 2 person job - when our launch manager arrives on site, they will be met on by our local Field Service Technician to assist with the install. The installation itself usually takes 1-2 days.

Can the station be moved after install?

Yes, the station is not an impermanent installation that sits on top of the ground. Our local technicians can move the station to a new location after install if required.

What happens in the event of a flood?

Our cage can take on up to 3 feet of water. If we expect higher water levels and / or strong current and debris and move the cage off site and put it back after the flood.
